He continued: “I wasn’t quite sure … because I’ve done some very good things for my body, and I’ve also had a lot of fun. I’ve done some things that could be … some kind of abuse, I mean, nothing really clinical. I won’t get into the details. Just use your imagination!

“But it was, it felt pretty serious, and to get through that and then be back in a room like this, facing this many people facing this way, listening to us play music for you is really, truly, it’s been a gift and an honour. Thanks for listening. We’re so grateful.”

At the show, the ‘Go’ rocker was joined on stage by his 17-year-old daughter Olivia for a duet of ‘My Father’s Daughter’.

The news of the gig being delayed was announced in early February.

In a statement, the 57-year-old rocker wrote at the time: “We have been following Covid protocols but still had a positive test in our touring party. The appropriate response is to postpone the next two shows. Everyone, please take care.”

Juno Temple felt like “Cinderella” at the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards.

The ‘Ted Lasso’ actress admitted she had “fantasised” about wearing a Versace chain mail gown since she was a teenager so she was elated to walk the silver carpet at Santa Monica’s Barker Hangar in her dream dress on Sunday (27.02.22).

She told E! News: “This is a Versace chain mail dress. I am a fashion junkie, I wanted to go to fashion school and Versace chain mail is something I’ve fantasised since I was probably 14 years old and now I’m wearing one.

“I feel I’m Cinderella, it’s the most extraordinary piece of clothing I’ve ever worn in my entire life.”

Juno – who was nominated for the Outstanding Female Actor in a Comedy Series award but lost out to ‘Hacks’ star Jean Smart – wore her locks in a tousled fishtail braid with minimal hair jewellery and her glam team loved her finished look.

Hair stylist Mara Roszak told Vanity Fair: “It’s not ‘less is more,’ for sure. But it’s never too much, either. It just always works.

“The dress-up part of it is really fun to do with Juno because she so appreciates fashion. Especially Versace—it feels just so her.”

The gold column dress had inspired Mara’s work on Juno’s hair and in the weeks leading up to the event, she and an assistant made a tour of various stores in Los Angeles, picking up woven gold rope and micro-thin wire from International Silks and Woolens.

Mara said: “They have a whole floor of different textures of ribbons and strings and thread.”

Meanwhile, Juno reflected on how playing Keeley Jones in ‘Ted Lasso’ has been good for her.

She said: “Keeley brought a lot of positivity to my life, especially the time I’ve been living in. She’s someone who really helped me be kinder to myself, so that’s a big thing that happened with that character, I embraced my inner Keeley by reminding myself I don’t always have to be a crazy nightmare to myself.”

There are so many great Mac calendar apps, to the point where a Windows user might feel left out. You shouldn’t, though, because Windows comes with a pretty great calendar app out of the box, and there are a few solid ones to check out beyond that. Here’s how to find them.

Anyone can access Google Calendar from a browser; desktop apps are for someone who wants more than that. I write about productivity professionally and have been using desktop calendar apps for decades. In my experience, the best Windows calendar apps do all the following things:

  • Offer a native Windows interface. Sticking a web app in a desktop window isn’t good enough—the best Windows calendar apps feel like they belong in Windows and offer native features like keyboard shortcuts.

  • Show you your schedule at a glance. You should be able to open your calendar and see what needs doing, whatever that means to you. For some, this will mean a week view; for others, it’s an agenda of the day’s appointments—the best apps offer flexibility.

  • Make it easy to add appointments. Adding appointments should be as quick and as simple as possible. Ideally this should be possible using only keyboard shortcuts.

  • Notify you of upcoming appointments. There should be optional notifications when an event is about to start.

  • Sync with multiple platforms. It’s not enough for your calendar to only work locally: at the very least, it needs to sync with your phone. Ideally, there should also be a way to sync with Google, Apple, and Microsoft accounts, along with advanced options for CalDAV and iCal.

It’s a thin market, but I considered and tested a dozen Windows calendar apps. I attempted to connect them to my personal and work calendars, spent time adding appointments, and left them on for a while so I could get a feel for what using them day-to-day is like. Based on that experience, here are the four apps I think work best for Windows users.

If you don’t love any of the above options, here are a few more things to look into:

  • As I mentioned: Windows 11 used to come with a calendar app called Windows Calendar. That application is no longer supported and will stop working by the end of 2024; Microsoft suggests users switch to Outlook for Windows, which is now free for Windows users.

  • Rainlendar adds calendar widgets to your desktop, and it can even sync with other services if you’re willing to pay. It hasn’t aged well since its early 2010s release, though, especially on modern displays. Also, it’s hard to pronounce.

  • Some of the best Windows to-do list apps, including TickTick, offer a built-in calendar.

  • There’s nothing stopping you from using Google Calendar in your browser of choice; it just won’t give you that native desktop experience.

  • Or you could give up and switch to a paper-based productivity system. I won’t judge.

The ‘Girls Trip’ actress turned heads in her long-sleeved Gareth Pugh gown as she arrived at the ceremony with her husband, Will Smith, and she explained the floor-length black and blue garment was a vintage piece she had picked up “a while ago”.

Speaking to ‘Live from E! SAG Awards’ host Laverne Cox, she said: “It’s vintage. It’s something that I bought a while ago. [I] had it in the closet and I was like, ‘You know what? I think girl is ready for the SAG Awards!’ So, pulled it out.”

While Will’s dark navy suit perfectly matched his wife’s look, he admitted he hadn’t put very much thought into his ensemble for the night.

He joked: “It’s just a little something I put together.

“My thing is I take a shower and I wear what’s on the bed when I get out.”

Jada added: “He has a very good stylist.”

Will confirmed: “Yeah, absolutely.”

The 53-year-old star went on to win the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role award for his work on King Richard and on the red carpet, he reflected on the “deep responsibility” he felt playing the father of tennis legends Serena and Venus Williams.

He said: “When you are telling a story of someone’s life, it is deep responsibility. Because at my level, when I put something out in the world, people take it as the truth. So, if the family didn’t like it, didn’t believe it, as an artist, that is devastating.”

And he admitted he dreaded hearing Venus and Serena’s reactions to the film.

He said: “When I heard that they were watching it, that was like the worst two hours of my life. But they called immediately and said they both cried and they felt honoured.

“Everything else after that is icing on the cake.”

However, when he won later in the evening, Will admitted it was one of the “greatest moments” of his career because of who he was sitting with inside the Barker Hangar.

He said: “That may have been one of the greatest moments of my career just now because my name was called for ‘King Richard’ sitting next to Venus Williams and her sister.”

Turn emails into tasks

Many emails demand some kind of action, whether it’s a bill reminder or a request from your manager. Treating your inbox like a task manager is usually disastrous, but copying and pasting emails into your to-do list app isn’t ideal either.

Depending on your email app, you can set up your Zap to look rely on a search string or look for a specific label to mark messages you want to turn into tasks. Then, Zapier will automatically add only those emails to your task manager of choice. The next time you check your to-do list, the actionable emails will be there for you to check off.

Use AI to label and summarize your emails

If you need to add a little more organization to your inbox, you can use AI tools (like ChatGPT or Mem) to automatically label new emails based on their contents. Or, if you don’t have time to go through your emails one by one, you can generate quick summaries and have them delivered to you or your team directly in your team chat app. 

That way, you can start prioritizing your emails with more ease and spend less time sifting through the noise.

Save attachments automatically

Repeat after me: Your inbox shouldn’t be storage for your files. Treating your inbox that way easily leads to accidentally deleting an important file you never saved elsewhere. Save yourself the hassle of forwarding, transferring, or saving email attachments by using one of the following Zaps to automatically save important email attachments to a cloud storage app.

Selena Gomez went for a “grand and over-the-top” look at the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards, thanks to a lot of statement jewellery.

The ‘Only Murders in the Building’ actress walked the silver carpet on Sunday (27.02.22) in a black velvet Oscar De La Renta gown with gems from Bulgari, including their high-jewellery Serpenti necklace, a white gold piece featuring two pear-shaped emeralds and diamonds totalling 37.04 carats and a platinum ring featuring a 9.89-carat cushion-cut Columbian emerald and her stylist, Kate Young, was delighted with the finished look.

Kate said: “We really wanted to do tons of jewellery, and [the ring] is a major emerald.

“Together with the velvet, the look feels really grand and over the top and interesting.”

Kate – whose clients include the likes of Margot Robbie, Sophie Turner and Dakota Johnson – explained she prefers not to ask designers to create custom gowns but looks to find “the best dress on the best girl”.

She told The Hollywood Reporter: “Oscar de la Renta didn’t do a traditional runway show, but even if they had, whether people have seen a dress before doesn’t concern me.

“I’m not interested in asking a designer to cook up a custom dress just for the sake of doing custom; I think it’s important that dresses relate back to what’s on the runway. My job is to take the best of what’s available in the world of fashion and match it to these women.

“It’s the best dress on the best girl, and I think she looks really good.”

The stylist first saw the gown via video prior to the collection’s release earlier this month and knew “immediately” after Selena tried it on that it was right for her.

She said: “It’s super flattering and feels very her. There’s always that moment when someone puts on a dress and it’s immediately apparent that this is the one. The cut is fun and feels aligned with Selena’s style.”

I consider myself tech-savvy, but ActiveCampaign’s automations tool is intimidating enough that I was happy to let a consultant create workflows for my marketing agency. The demand for this kind of support is strong enough that ActiveCampaign features 100+ certified consultants on its website.

So I can understand why there’s a deep hunger among users for a simpler way to manage email marketing. tinyEmail, which focuses on beginner-friendly email marketing for eCommerce, is one option. While it just launched in 2021 (and until recently was known mainly for its free Shopify app), tinyEmail’s developers are working to grow it into a real alternative to feature-filled competitors like ActiveCampaign.

I spent time using ActiveCampaign and tinyEmail to see how they stacked up. In this article, I’ll walk you through the capabilities of each tool to help you understand which one makes sense for you.

ActiveCampaign vs. tinyEmail at a glance

Here’s a quick overview to help you understand which tool fits your needs:

  • tinyEmail is best for beginners and small eCommerce shops. If you’ve tried to use other email marketing software but found it too complicated, tinyEmail is built for you. It’s quick to get started, and while its features are currently limited, the platform’s capabilities are growing fast.

  • ActiveCampaign is best for larger eCommerce shops and intermediate-to-advanced users. It offers industry-leading automation, personalization, and CRM capabilities. While it’s relatively expensive and can be complex to learn, there’s almost no limit to what you can do.

tinyEmail is easier to use

It’s no secret that ActiveCampaign has a steep learning curve. The Customer Stories section of its website is full of technically-inclined customers like marketing agencies, who rave about ActiveCampaign’s CRM and automation features. Regular small businesses? Not so much. Reviews tend to say that—while it’s ultimately worth it to learn ActiveCampaign—it’s “complex and overwhelming” and that to get the most out of it you need to “employ a team of specialists.”

So—tinyEmail to the rescue? When it comes to ease of use, absolutely. The tool’s features have almost no learning curve. Even more notable is how quickly you can get started: going from signup to sending your first email is faster and easier with tinyEmail than any other email tool I’ve tried.

The key is tinyEmail’s Brand Kit feature, which automatically pulls your logo and brand colors from your domain name. It then syncs those across your account so your emails, templates, social links, and other assets are brand-aligned.

Audience-building is just as easy with the Automatic Audiences feature, which pulls in your audience data from sources like WordPress, Shopify, or an uploaded CSV file. 

Once your brand and audience are set up, you’ll get dropped into the dashboard, where you can click Create campaign to start designing your first email.

By contrast, ActiveCampaign’s huge array of features tend to weigh the tool down when it comes to ease of use. For example, to create a campaign, you need to first choose the type of campaign you want: Standard, Split Testing, Automated, RSS Triggered, Auto Responder, or Date Based. Then, you’re faced with more choices. Do you want to enable link tracking? How about open/read tracking? None of this is a problem for email marketing veterans, but beginners can easily find themselves overwhelmed.

tinyEmail has a vast selection of 300+ email templates—more than ActiveCampaign and many other competitors. That said, the quality of the templates varies. I recommend sticking to the templates in the Staff Picks section, which tend to have the slickest designs.

ActiveCampaign has nearly as many templates as tinyEmail does, though many of them seem to be pretty dated. (Side note to the email marketing CEOs of the world: it’s time to retire your 2015-era email templates.)

Building emails in tinyEmail is straightforward: there’s a robust drag-and-drop builder, an integrated stock image library, and eCommerce-focused features like product cards. Still, the user interface—which feels a bit cluttered with widgets and settings—doesn’t scream “user-friendly” like the rest of tinyEmail’s features do. Overall, the simplicity of the email design experience is roughly on par with ActiveCampaign. (For pure drag-and-drop simplicity, MailerLite is still the easiest I’ve used.)

Building an email in tinyEmail

For small eCommerce shops, tinyEmail has a few key advantages:

  1. It’s easy to learn.

  2. It’s free for Shopify users and syncs tightly with Shopify customer data.

  3. It offers eCommerce-specific features like promotional email templates, one-click email automations, pre-built segmentations, and AMP modules.

AMP is a particularly interesting feature (and one that ActiveCampaign doesn’t offer). Here’s how it works: instead of sending static emails, you can embed elements that update dynamically. This unlocks a new set of possibilities that are especially powerful for eCommerce stores. For example, one tinyEmail widget syncs directly to Shopify and dynamically updates the sale price within emails. You can also automatically update your call-to-action in promotional emails after a sale expires. The only downside? For now, Gmail and Yahoo Mail are the only mainstream email clients that support AMP.

Many eCommerce brands will find themselves running up against the limits of what tinyEmail can do, especially related to automations: there are just a handful of automation templates in tinyEmail, and you can’t design your own automation workflows.

Meanwhile, ActiveCampaign has 59 eCommerce-related automations. They cover everything from a cross-sell automation for Magento users to Shopify post-purchase accessory upsell.

ActiveCampaign has three key eCommerce advantages for power users:

  1. Automation: In addition to the enormous selection of pre-built automation templates, you can create your own automation workflows. ActiveCampaign also has predictive sending, an AI-powered feature that helps emails land in customers’ inboxes when they’re most likely to take action.

  2. CRM: ActiveCampaign is easily the better choice (and really, the only choice) if your sales process is high-touch and involves salespeople reaching out to customers.

  3. Channels: While tinyEmail only deals with email (though it’s adding SMS), ActiveCampaign lets you extend your marketing campaign to landing pages, SMS marketing, website pop-up messages, and Facebook ads integrations.

While tinyEmail is the best free option for Shopify users, ActiveCampaign also has a native Shopify integration—though you’ll need to sign up for the $70/month Pro plan to access it.

ActiveCampaign is much more powerful

ActiveCampaign is in a different league than tinyEmail, and automation is the most glaring difference. ActiveCampaign lets you create complex custom automations and has hundreds of pre-built ones.

Here’s an example: the below pre-built automation workflow is a customer winback campaign that kicks off when a customer cancels. Then, it runs a split test on two possible messaging sequences to find out which one is more successful.

Given that tinyEmail launched in 2021, it’s understandable that it doesn’t have the same features as competitors who have been building their products for decades. And I admire their ambition to create an automation engine that “does not break at every node and does not take days to build out.” But tinyEmail’s current automation options are painfully barebones—there are just five templates, four of which only work with Shopify stores—and there’s no way to create your own custom automation.

For many eCommerce stores, tinyEmail’s lack of automation prowess will be a dealbreaker. It’s worth mentioning that the product roadmap shows that multiple automation features are in development, so it might be worth keeping your eye on tinyEmail even if it doesn’t quite meet your needs yet.

ActiveCampaign’s powerful segmentation capabilities let you group contacts based on their attributes (like where they signed up) and their behavior (like how they’re interacting with your emails). Oddly, the segmentation feature is pretty buried—you have to go to Search Contacts and then Advanced Search to create a new segment—but it allows you to filter by an impressive number of variables.

Segmentation is where I think tinyEmail strikes the right balance between features and simplicity. It offers a good selection of pre-defined segments, plus a surprisingly robust custom segment builder that lets you based on factors like customer activity (like opening emails) and behaviors (like last order date and last order price).

Analytics is another area where ActiveCampaign shines. There are reports for everything: marketing revenue, conversion attribution, sales pipeline activity, and email list growth trends. You can also create custom reports and track progress toward your goals.

tinyEmail’s analytics are sparse, and there are no custom reports. I do like the clarity of the data visualization they offer and the built-in deliverability reporting. You can also track sales and revenue automatically with tinyEmail’s eCommerce integrations.

tinyEmail is more affordable—especially if you use Shopify

tinyEmail has a free plan that includes 500 subscribers, forms and pop-ups, and automations. Its Standard plan, at $15/month, features unlimited subscribers and premium templates. The tinyEmail Pro plan, at $65/month, offers pre-built segments, a custom domain, and unlimited use of AI features. Shopify users get access to a special free plan—equivalent to the Standard plan—which you can access via the Shopify app store.

ActiveCampaign is more geared toward customers with complex needs, and its higher pricing reflects that. There’s no free plan to be found here, though you can get a 14-day trial. After that, its entry-level plan is $39/month for 1,000 contacts. ActiveCampaign’s $70/month Plus plan gets you access to features like landing pages and lead scoring (and a Shopify integration); its $187/month Professional plan includes advanced capabilities like AI-powered predictive sending.

ActiveCampaign features 97 native integrations, including integrations with all the big eCommerce platforms. tinyEmail has a smaller set of 28 native integrations, but it links tightly with essential eCommerce platforms like Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, and Volusion.

Steven Spielberg is developing a new movie based on ‘Bullitt’.

Deadline report that the legendary director is attached to helm a new original story that centres on Frank Bullitt, the character famously played by Steve McQueen in the 1968 movie.

Spielberg will produce the film with Kristie Macosko Krieger with Josh Singer set to pen the script.

Insiders are adamant that this is not a remake of the original flick but a new idea that focuses on the character.

In the original movie, Frank Bullitt is a no-nonsense San Francisco police officer hunting for a mob kingpin that killed his witness. The project is considered to be one of McQueen’s most famous roles and delivers one of the most famous car chases in cinematic history.

Steve’s son Chad and his granddaughter Molly McQueen are to executive produce the new movie.

Spielberg is currently completing post-production work on ‘The Fabelmans’, which is set to be released in November.

Plot details remain under wraps but the movie is described as a semi-autobiographical project which draws from Spielberg’s time growing up in Arizona.

The deeply personal nature of the project means that Spielberg has co-written the script with his frequent collaborator Tony Kushner. It marks the director’s first screenplay credit since the 2001 movie ‘A.I. Artificial Intelligence’.

Spielberg has often discussed how his upbringing in Arizona served as inspiration for many of his films – from stories to characters. The project will mark the first time that viewers will be given an opportunity to gain perspective on the filmmaker behind blockbusters such as ‘E.T the Extra-Terrestrial’ and the ‘Indiana Jones’ franchise.
